Chistmas Recital Information

Our Annual Christmas Recital is December 4th at 7:00 PM.

The address is: 138 NE 1st street, Pomano Beach 33060

First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach - Main Sanctuary

Dear Families,

Here is the information regarding our annual recital.

You may invite friends and family to attend the recital.

No flash photography will be permitted during performances. It can be detrimental for your child to have distracting flashes going off while they are trying to focus on their performance.

Dear Students: Please wear festive holiday recital attire. Holiday dresses or skirts for young ladies and suits or dress pants, and dress shirts with a tie for young gentlemen. Absolutely no jeans, shorts, tee shirts, short skirts, sneakers, flip flops, clunky jewelry, long fingernails etc.

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the recital and check in for seating with the other students.

Dear Parents: Please bring a tray of food or Christmas cookies for the reception table. Please bring a little more if you have a large group attending. Please bring it to the table in the garden patio area before the recital. I will provide the paper goods, coffee and punch.

Also, please allow one and a half to two hours for the recital. Remember that many people will spend hours at a sporting event, yet have a hard time sitting through a shorter cultural event like a piano recital. I promise that we will move as quickly as possible through the evening and, hopefully, you will enjoy every minute. This is a celebration of the glorious Christmas season!

Student Day Exams Information

Student Day

Florida State Music Teachers Association provides for non-competitive performance, written theory, and aural theory evaluations through its Student Day Program. The program encompasses Levels Primary through Twelve, without any age restrictions, in all instruments and voice.

The FSMTA Student Activities Handbook (*) gives specific requirements and sample tests.

Students are awarded Certificates of Achievement or Certificates of Progress. A student may enter at the level the teacher feels is appropriate. After completing Level VI, a student may continue enrolling for evaluation in performance, written theory, and aural theory, or they may enroll in any single area for evaluation. A County Honors Recital for outstanding performers concludes the Student Day experience.

Here is the schedule for the Student Day Written and Aural Theory exams on November 12, 2011.

The exams will be held at Broward Community College Central Campus, Building 4.  For directions and a campus map, please click here.

* Note: Building #4 is part of Bailey Hall. The door to the Music Department is just past the box office, under the #4 on the outside of the building.

Written Exam:

The written exam will be given in Room 144 between 9 AM and 4:30 PM. Students may take the written exam either before or after the aural exam. The aural exams will begin at the scheduled times. Students will not be admitted after the exam has begun.

*Each student should bring 2 sharpened pencils with erasers!

*Please advise your students to allow plenty of time to take the written exam.
