Happy New Year! January Announcements

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy New Year! I trust this letter finds you all warm and rested and ready to tackle the new year.
The next big event for us is our annual Musicthon Fundraiser.
Students should be preparing and memorizing their selection that they wish to perform for this worthy event.
Please find  the Musicthon Sponsor Letter and Pledge Form in the email that I sent to you.
It is important to reach out to friends and family to give them the opportunity to participate with you in raising monies for Broward County Music Teachers Association and 4Kids of South Florida.
Many of our studio students took advantage of the Summer Music Camp Scholarships offered by BCMTA this past year.
If you are unable to participate this year, I ask you to please consider making a generous donation. BCMTA is a 501(c)3 non profit organization.
Students in the Conservatory Track should be practicing diligently, preparing for their March 18-19 Student Day Performance Exams, as well as their May 26-29 Guild Auditions.
Our end of year Spring Recital will be held sometime in May or the first weekend in June. It is TBA, until I can learn of the various senior’s graduation dates :-). Would you believe we have 5 graduating seniors!
That is it for now, please see the attached updated Studio Calendar and the two Musicthon documents.
Musically yours,
Mrs. Purchase

Dear Families: You may invite friends and family to attend the recital. You may video. Please arrive in plenty of time to set up. Be sure your battery is fully charged as I (or whoever is videoing for me) will be using the outlet to record the recital :) No flash photography will be permitted during performances.

COVID Information:  New Presbyterian Church does not require masks, so masks are optional. Please wear one if you feel more comfortable. Most families in the studio have already had COVID and are vaccinated. There will be hand sanitizer for students to use before and after their performances

Dear Students: Please wear formal/festive recital attire. Long dresses or skirts for young ladies and suits or dress pants, and dress shirts with a tie for young gentlemen. Absolutely no jeans, shorts, tee shirts, short skirts, sneakers, flip flops, clunky jewelry, long fingernails etc. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the recital and check in for seating with the other students.

*Dear ParentsPlease bring a tray of food to share for the reception table.  Please bring a little more if you have a large group attending. Please bring it to the table in the narthex before the recital. I will provide the paper goods, coffee and punch.

Also, please allow one and a half to two hours for the recital. Remember that many people will spend hours at a sporting event, yet have a hard time sitting through a shorter cultural event like a piano recital. I promise that we will move as quickly as possible through the evening and, hopefully, you will enjoy every minute. This is a celebration of the joyous Christmas season!

SPRING RECITAL

Friday, May 20, 2022, 7:00 PM New Presbyterian Church 512 NE 26th St
Wilton Manors, Fl 33305

Student Attire: Formal recital attire is required - No denim jackets, jeans, shorts, short skirts, clunky shoes, sneakers, jeans, t shirts, long nails, football cleats....etc. No long nails will be permitted as they can actually damage the piano keys in addition to making it very difficult to perform.

Acceptable: Long and dressy dresses for the girls (fancy party dresses for very young girls) and dress shoes, slacks, button up dress shirts and ties and/or jackets for the boys.

Unacceptable: Boat shoes, Dockers, casual brown loafers, flip flops, black sneakers, and actually, casual shoes, or sneakers of ANY kind are not appropriate for a recital and will not be permitted on stage. If you question whether something is appropriate, please ask me.

If a student performer is inappropriately attired, I will ask you to take them home to change to more appropriate attire.

This is non-negotiable and is very important. I appreciate your showing of respect for the event and for your understanding and cooperation. Our students have worked so hard to prepare for an event like this and we appreciate showing your support in this regard.

You may invite friends and family.

There will be a reception. Please bring a platter of finger foods, fruits/veg, cheese/ crackers or a dessert to share. I will provide the punch and paper goods.

Face masks are not required. Please wear a mask if you feel more comfortable.

Love,
Mrs. Purchase
